The Story: Germs! Germs! Germs! by Bobbi Katz
Germs describes in rhyme how they attack the body to cause illness
and how careful people make life difficult for germs. The germs, shown as colorful, rather
hyperactive monsters, explain that they live everywhere but look for a spot where they can
spread disease. Soon they're cavorting in someone's mouth, crying, "Give us someplace dark
and damp. What a perfect place to camp!" That illustration alone could inspire a week's
worth of diligent tooth brushing. The rhyming text and amusing illustrations will delight
children as they learn to beware of the germs that make us sick.
This book was written for children in preschool and primary-grade levels. The
story will be read by Deidra Woodson, a librarian from the LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport
and will be followed by an activity for the children.
